Dissociative Identity Disorder Support Group Web Site

The purpose of this
website is to bring awareness
and understanding of
not only the struggles
survivors of child abuse encounter
daily, but also
of the prevalence
of abuse that children
continue to endure.
This website is the official home page for:
Ivory Gardens Dissociative Identity Disorder
Support Group

I created this blog to educate,
giving folks an overview of
Dissociative Identity Disorder, including:
A quick description of what
Dissociative Identity is, causes,
common symptoms and accompanying disorders,
and also recommended support
for those who know someone,
or who believe they
have or do have the disorder.

I started this blog and profile
and blog when we started
our discussion board on Yuku
I enjoy it for the friends
that I have made and the things
that we have learned while participating on IGDID.

I started stitching when I was around 10.
I had this kit that was a plastic octagon jewelry box,
it has this ugly picture of a sail boat on it.
I stitched it for Nana.
She still has that ugly thing,
still displayed proudly.

I have stitched on and off since then.
I put it down a few years back
after growing bored with the patterns I found.

Most of the things I've stitched I've given away.
I have one around
here somewhere, when I locate it,
I will post a picture.
It is a kit of a house and scenery in front of the house.

There are many of us
who make up the person who I am.
There are more than 500 of us inside. We always knew that
we were made up of different people,
but we thought everyone was like that....
we thought we were just better in touch
with what it is to be
a multi-faceted human-being.
Then we started therapy and learned
that we have Dissociative Identity Disorder,
or DID.

In 2002, I started surfing around
the web, and later,
started participating on forums.
My combined passion
for the Internet and for writing,
eventually led me
to creating this online journal,
which I first started in late 2002.

Support for anyone with a mental disorder.

Jamie and SO's Blog

My SO and I have been active in starting up a blog about DID from both our perspectives. We are both quite young and we use swear words and sometimes dark humor, but in general it's a blog that tries to focus on laughing through the difficult times..
